I've been working in events and exhibitions for longer than I care to remember (over 20 years now). Like many, I didn't know the industry existed until I kind of fell into it, and I have been doing my thing here ever since.

I started in the UK, and then 8 years ago I made the move to Dubai to work for Projex Event services. Unfortunately the recent COVID-19 events brought an end to that role so here I am back in the market looking for the next opportunity.

My core skills are in project mgt. but I am not satisfied in just following a set of plans and sorting out the production. I love working with design teams and giving my creative input. I'm an R&D man, give me a concept, and I'll work out how we can build it. My favourite projects that I have recently worked on have been on the Museum of the Future exhibitions, and the recent work that I have done with Hermes. In both instances, I have had to develop new build techniques, introduce new materials to the workshop, and work with some great design teams who are not interested in "the ordinary".

Over the past few years, I have been moving away from exhibitions stands, and working more in the events and permanent installations / museum sector, which for me has allowed a greater sense of job satisfaction. Events, because they are fast moving, more fluid projects, where I feel I have a greater opportunity to use my skills to make a positive impact, and permanent work, which tends to involve a more rigorous and technical pre-production phase and comes with a sense of legacy.

I am well used to running a team of other PM's, putting multi-disciplinary teams together to tackle a project, and fitting in seamlessly with any team put together by the client. I am looking for full time employment, but in the meantime am happy to take on any freelance roles available.

As for me, I'm married to a wonderful wife, and am the father to a delightful 4 year old daughter. In my spare time I cook, attempt to paint, bake bread, and potter around in the vegetable garden. I love to travel, don't read as much I would like, and have a degree in Ancient History. Please get in touch if you would like a chat about how we can work together.
